How Many Days in Mallorca?
You should aim to stay at least 1 week! It is just enough time to see the highlights over two regions.
2 weeks will allow you explore more hidden gems in less popular parts of the island such as the north-eastern, and west parts of the island.
Any less than 1 week, I would recommend only seeing one part of the island. If you prefer beaches, stay in Santanyi, if you like the old world spanish charm, stay in Deia.
Best beaches
- Caló del Moro
- Cala Llombards
- Cala s’Almunia and Caló des Moro
Must Do Activities
- Boat Tour
- Beach Hop the South Island
- Indulge in Mallorcan cuisine
- Valdemossa and Deia – wander the charming stone streets that weave through their mountain settings
Getting There and Around
Fly into Palma from most major European airports then pick up your PREBOOKED HIRE CAR… don’t try to get around it!
When to Visit
🌞 Summer! – July to August enjoy balmy 30° weather but be prepared to expect more tourists and higher prices. I visited during this time and still had the best time (tips to come)!
🌷 Shoulder seasons – April to June, Sept and early October are great to beat the crowds with a bit cooler temps

Where to Stay
Itinerary Outline
Day 1 – 3: Santanyi
Dive into 3 unforgettable days in Santanyí. Explore Mallorca’s sun-drenched southern beaches, vibrant local markets, and take an unforgettable boat ride through turquoise waters.
Day 4 – 5: Deia
Spending two days wandering the beautiful towns of Deia and Valldemossa. They are only a short drive apart from each other and both feature inviting cobblestone streets where you can get stumble into unique local shops and cafes.
Day 1 – Explore Santanyi
Check in to your hotel, explore Santanyi and enjoy a meal
Start your itinerary by driving an hour south from Palma to your Santanyí stay and settle into this charming southeast gem.
Santanyí has great dining options, bustling markets, and handy grocery spots. Best of all, it’s just 15 minutes from Mallorca’s top beaches, perfect for beach girls like me! Stroll its tranquil streets in the evening, after the day-trippers have vanished, and soak up the cool, peaceful vibes.

Santanyi Accomodation
- S’Hotelet de Santanyi‘s – $
- A charming villa in Santanyí perfect for beach lovers with a cozy, convenient vibe.
- Can Ferrereta – $$$
- A luxurious 5-star boutique hotel in Santanyí with top-tier dining and spa indulgence
- Olive Grove & Grand House – $$
- An exclusive adults-only retreat in Algaida surrounded by olive groves – not in Santanyi
We loved S’Hotelet de Santanyí’s Deluxe Villa for its prime spot in Santanyí, complete with must-have air-conditioning.
Booking the villa suite gave us a kitchen and laundry, saving us on meals and keeping water chilled for remote beach trips.
We frequently enjoyed the shared pool all to ourselves, offering a serene retreat from bustling beaches.

Santanyi Restaurants
I had a great experience at both Laudat Restaurant and La Nouvelle Famille in Santanyí. Either would make a great dinner option after a long day of travel.
Laudat Restaurant: featured in the Michelin Guide, serves refined Mediterranean dishes and delivers a high-end dining experience with a warm, patio vibe.

Grilled octopus with courgette carpaccio and lemon-Vera paprika vinaigrette
La Nouvelle Famille: offers a contemporary take on bistrot classics with fresh, seasonal dishes, delivering a casual yet refined dining experience in a laid-back, European-inspired vibe

Day 2 – Mallorcan Boat Tour Experience
A visit to Mallorca isn’t complete without a boat tour!
We chose the family-owned and operated boat tour with Capalina Cala D’Or, departing from the spacious Marina de Cala d’Or, just 20 minutes from Santanyí. Arriving early gives you time for a relaxed 15-minute stroll to admire the luxury yachts before setting off with an intimate group of just 10 people.

Hospitality and Activities on Board
Run by a welcoming Dutch and English couple, the tour includes a delicious snack platter of Mallorcan produce and free-flowing drinks. Guests can enjoy stand-up paddleboarding, snorkeling, and pool noodles for a fun-filled time on the water. There are two daily sessions, with the afternoon sessions being adults-only.

Booking and Weather Considerations
I recommend booking your boat tour in the first few days of your trip, as weather changes can sometimes lead to cancellations, allowing the team to reschedule to another day if possible. This happened to us, with our trip moved two days later due to weather concerns. With limited spots, especially in peak season (July and August), booking in advance is a must!

Spend an evening at Cala Figuera

Cala Figuera, a charming fishing port on Mallorca’s south coast, is just a 10-minute drive from Santanyí. An evening here offers a serene atmosphere, to take in this local fishing village.

For dinner, we chose Bar Cala, where the food was decent but didn’t quite compare to our earlier recommendations in Santanyí. However, the stunning harbor views make it a popular choice.
After dining take a leisurely stroll along the waterfront where you’ll come across a lookout over a rocky cliff face. If you’re feeling adventurous, you can take a refreshing leap off the rocks into the cooler, deeper water.

Day 3 to 4 – Beach Hopping
Spend the next two days discovering Mallorca’s most stunning beaches with my comprehensive guide, coming soon! It covers everything you need to know, from the best beaches and what to bring, to parking tips and the facilities available at each beach.
In the meantime, here are a few of my favorite beaches you can’t miss on your next trip!
Caló del Moro

This was the most beautiful beach I visited in Mallorca, and for good reason. The water is truly that blue and clear in real life! It’s a very small beach, comfortably fitting only about 20 people when the tide comes in so you’ll want to get here at sunrise for maximum enjoyment.
Getting to Caló del Moro requires a bit of effort, so I’ll include detailed directions in my next guide. In short, it’s a challenging trek with a short but steep climb, making it unsuitable for people with disabilities.

Cala s’Almunia
Cala S’Almonia and Caló des Moro are located close to each other, so it’s worth visiting both. Cala S’Almonia is rugged beach features large rocks, making it less suitable for lounging. Enjoy the breathtaking beach view by walking scenic trail that connects the two beaches.

Playa Cala Llombards
A popular bay ideal for families and children, featuring a wide sandy beach. With rental chairs, restrooms, and an on-site restaurant, it’s the perfect spot to relax, enjoy some snacks.

Playa de S’Amarador and Cala Mondragó
Situated in the Mondrago Natural Park, these beaches are a minute apart by waklway. Both beaches are family friendly and feature a snack stands with drinks, plus chairs and umbrellas available for rent. With easy(ish) parking access and all the necessary amenities, it’s a favorite spot for many locals and tourists alike. There are many easy hiking trails connecting the national park for those who want to keep more active.

Afternoon Lunch in Ses Salines
Break up your beach adventures with a stop in Ses Salines. This historic town in southern Mallorca is known for its traditional Mallorcan charm and proximity to beautiful beaches, and is actually great alternative to Santanyi to base yourself. This tiny town has a peaceful atmosphere and has some good food options to grab lunch.

Ses Salines Restarants
- Cassai Gran
- A rustic restaurant offering Mediterranean cuisine in a sophisticated setting with outdoor seating.
- Es Magatzem. Fat y Salat
- A trendy eatery serving fresh, flavorful dishes in a relaxed atmosphere.
- Món de vins
- A cozy wine bar with an extensive wine list and locally-inspired dishes.
Catch the Sunset at Colonia de Sant Jordi
For an unforgettable sunset, head to the lighthouse in Colonia de Sant Jordi, where locals gather to watch the stunning view.
While the beaches, like Platja de Cala Galiota, may not be the best on the island, the town offers great restaurants with sunset views, such as CASSAI Beach House.

Day 4 – Head North to Deia
The trip from Palma to Deia takes around 45 minutes, depending on where you’re staying, so prepare for a twisty drive up the Tramuntana mountains. We managed to speed-run a Palma on the way there which I highly recommend if you don’t have time to visit at either end of your trip.
Aim to reach your accommodation before sunset to handle the narrow, two-way roads without the extra burden of night driving.

After settling into your accommodation, make your way to one of Mallorca’s most Instagram-famous dining spots: El Olivo, the restaurant at the luxurious Belmond La Residencia hotel in Deià.
You may have seen its viral open-air terrace, which boasts stunning mountain views, rustic stone flooring, and tables elegantly draped with fine linens on your social media feed. For the ultimate experience, book your table at sunset when the golden hour casts a magical glow over the outdoor dining space.
Keep in mind that El Olivo is notoriously hard to book, so be sure to set a reminder 90 days in advance to secure your spot and avoid missing out like I did!
Deia Restaurants
- El Olivo
- Famous dining spot with mediterranean cuisine
- Restaurante Miro
- Mediterranean tapas menu
- Restaurante Sebastian
- Seasonal dishes made with fresh local ingredients
- Restaurant Nama
- South East Asian cuisine
- Restaurante Xelini
- Local and mediterranean tapas
- Villa Rullan – Bistro Rullan
- Mediterranean cuisine
Deia Cafes
- Sa Fonda
- serves as a cafe by day and a lively local bar at night, known for its traditional Mallorcan cuisine and cozy vibe
- De Moniö
- Plant based restaurant and shop selling ceramics, homemade marmalades and wine
Deia Beach Restaurant
- Ca’s Patró March
- Famous beachfront seafood restaurant
Deia Accomodation
Accommodation in Deià is notoriously scarce and pricey, so book early (3-4 months in advance) if you want to stay in this stunning spot in the Tramuntana mountains.
- $$$ Belmond La Residencia
- The ultimate Deia accomodation boasting rustic luxury in the heart of the town. Renowned restaurants like El Olivo, and an extensive spa, make it a top choice for special occasions despite its high cost
- $$ Hotel Hoposa Costa d’Or – where I stayed!
- I highly reccommend this serene adults only retreat just a 6 minute drive from Deià, offering a stunning outdoor setting with poolside sunset views and an underrated private coastal hiking trail that leads to Cala Deià, the village’s only beach
- My only critique is that the narrow private road to the hotel is stressful to navigate, especially when passing another car, (or worse, a truck) while coming or going from the hotel.

Day 5 – Deià and Cala Deia,
Early Morning in Deià
To avoid the tourist crowds and improve your chances of finding parking, explore Deià early in the morning, where you can discover small markets, cute roadside grocers and restaurants. Be aware that parking in Deià is limited! We arrived around 10 a.m. and nearly gave up before luckily grabbing a spot from someone leaving, so be prepared to park farther away and walk.

Plaza de la Iglesia Deià
Make the trek up to Plaza de la Iglesia in Deià for stunning views. Take your time navigating the steep streets to this peaceful lookout above the town. The effort pays off with 360-degree views in a calm and quiet location, away from the tourist crowds. At the top, a small church and cemetery provide a serene setting for a moment of reflection amidst the breathtaking scenery.

Deia itself is small and compact. We explored the village by foot in about an hour or two, though you could linger longer at a local market or café for a slower paced day.

Afternoon at Cala Deià Cove
Like most beaches in Mallorca, arriving early at Cala Deià is key to secure parking and a spot on the “beach”. If you’re beached out by this point in your trip, prioritise visiting Deia town before heading here.
I use the term “beach” loosely since this cove is quite rocky, so consider bringing reef shoes for comfortable walking and swimming.
If you make it here, make sure to make a lunch booking at Ca’s Patró March, a seafood restaurant renowned for the best views overlooking the turquoise water.

Click HERE to discover the hidden gem of Hotel Hoposa Costa d’Or with this guide to its private coastal hiking trail leading to Cala Deià
Hotel Hoposa Costa d’Or offers a private trail along the rocky cliffside to Cala Deià, a scenic two hour-long hike if you take your time to soak in the views and snap photos along the way, with the highlight being the secluded coves you can enjoy all to yourself.
Since this trail isn’t easily accessible to the public, I saw many hotel guests relaxing in various coves along the route, creating a peaceful and private atmosphere compared to the bustling Cala Deià and other Mallorcan beaches.
I tackled this hike solo while my partner was unwell, and found it moderately challenging due to the intense heat, uneven terrain, and navigating some potentially hazardous spots. Make sure you bring plenty of water and keep in mind that you probably won’t have reception on the hike.

Day 6 – Valdemossa and Soller
Morning in Valdemossa
When visiting northern Mallorca, don’t skip Valldemossa, one of my favorite towns that felt more vibrant than Deià. Valldemossa has more going on with its flatter, walkable streets, streetfront cafes, casual restaurants, and little boutiques offering plenty of shopping options for souvenirs.
Explore the picturesque streets of Valldemossa, where festive papel picado dance in the breeze against a backdrop of historic stone houses. The warm Mediterranean sun and vibrant decorations make every corner feel like a scene from a storybook. Architecture and history buffs may enjoy a visit to the former monastery, Cartoixa de Valldemossa which offers a glimpse into the life of Frédéric Chopin.
Before you go, don’t miss the local Granizado Almond. This refreshing almond slushie reminiscent of a hazelnut frappe, is perfect for a hot day.

Cafes in Valdemossa
- Can Costa Valldemossa
- Family owned traditional mallorcan cuisine located a short drive from Valdemossa with easy parking in front
- Es Roquissar
- Casual contemporary mediterranean, latin and asian tapas
- Es Taller Valldemossa
Restaurants in Valdemossa
- Forn i Pastisseria Ca’n Molinas
- traditional mallorcan pastry and lunch options with terrace seating
Like many places, Valldemossa is mostly car-free, and parking is scarce. The main parking lot fills up by noon, with desperate tourists circling for spots, trailing pedestrians hoping to snag their space.
We lucked out after 20 minutes of waiting, and the departing couple kindly handed us their parking ticket, sparing us the long, frustrating line at the singluar parking ticket machine.

If you have extra time…
Visit Soller
I didn’t personally make it here, but have heard only great things about Sóller and its nearby port, which are only a 20 minute drive away from Deia. This makes it another great town to base yourself in on the north side of the island. Sóller has all the makings of an authentic cultural escape, with a vibrant Saturday market, historic Sant Bartomeu churc, and traditional architecture at every step.
Just 3 kilometers away, Port de Sóller, a serene coastal gem, enchants with its horseshoe-shaped bay, sandy beaches, and a laid-back Mediterranean atmosphere ideal for unwinding by the sea. Both spots share a peaceful, less touristy feel compared to Mallorca’s busier resorts, appealing to travelers craving tranquility and local flavor.
Day 7 – Palma
Head back to Palma to spend your last day
I’ve saved Palma for the final day for a couple of key reasons:
- Staying near the airport makes for a smoother, stress-free departure, especially since Palma’s airport can get chaotic in peak summer. Trust me, you’ll want extra time to return your rental car and navigate the bustle
- Palma lacks the rustic, beachside allure that defines the island’s appeal, making it our least favourite stop. If you’re visiting Mallorca, basing yourself solely in Palma would be a disservce to the authentic experience the rest of the island offers

What to do in Palma?
- Palma Old Town – your standard city based old-town
- Palma Cathedral – unique architecture you can appreciate from the inside and out (book ahead to visit inside)
- The Parc de La Mar – stunning park with a saltwater lake and towering palms near the Cathedral
- Shop La Rambla and the Borne – stroll this tree-lined boulevard known for its vibrant flower stalls and luxury shopping
- Santa Catalina – a former fishing area, is now a cool spot with a historic market, trendy bars, restaurants and shops

- Marc Fosh Restaurant ⭐️

If you have more time…
If you have a couple extra days on either side of your trip, I would highly recommend exploring another unique part of the island
Explore South West Mallorca
I was lucky enough to be able to spend my last night in the Western mountainous area of Mallorca. It is located fairly close (to Palma) so we didn’t feel too rushed driving 30 minutes back to Palma to catch our afternoon flight the next day.
Some of the most popular areas to visit in this region include Port Andratx and Camp de Mar which both have some well known restaurants, bars and beach clubs.
Port d’Andratx features a rocky cove called Cala Llamp which has all the regular beach amenities such as free parking, nearby restaurant and beach chairs and parasols for rent.
Accomodation
Truthfully, our stay at the five-star Castel Son Claret was a major reason we loved this area so much. The hotel’s Michelin-starred restaurant, Sa Clastra, was a standout feature that convinced us to splurge, and we have zero regrets. We spent our final day lounging by the infinity pool amid sprawling grounds, and marvelling at the fairytale-like castle setting.

Castel Son Claret outclasses all of the hotels I’ve been to both in Spain, and probably in most other parts of the world. The attention to detail, professionalism and hotel amenities were second to none. From the REN toiletries, to selection of freshly baked goods to pick from every morning, and the hotel’s commitment to using produce from their expansive estate olive grove, citrus orchard, and vegetable garden. The breakfast buffet, complete with à la carte options, felt like we were eating at an upscale European cafe. Every moment was luxurious and memorable.

Restaurants
- Sa Clastra
- One-Michelin-star restaurant part of Hotel Son Claret, delivered the best meal I’ve ever eaten in a stunning castle courtyard, offering a unique dining experience showcasing the best Mallorcan cuisine with impeccable service that’s truly second to none.
- Oliveria
- Hotel Castell Son Claret’s offers a casual dining experience with Mediterranean cuisine for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, served in a lovely outdoor courtyard setting
- Restaurante Illeta
- located on a small island off Camp de Mar beach, offers a stunning seafront dining experience with exceptional paella

Restaurant Sa Clastra
Bars
- Tim’s Port Andratx
- A vibrant bar and restaurant offering stunning sea views, and live music, praised for its fantastic sunset vibes and friendly atmosphere
Beach Clubs
- Gran Folies
- Perched on the rocky coast of Cala Llamp, this is the perfect beach club experience complete with hammocks, pool, and restaurant
Thanks for reading!
That completes my ultimate Mallorcan holiday itinerary! I hope this inspires you to book your next adventure to this beautiful Summer Paradise.
